Folio 277. A memorandum headed 'copy of the translate by Mr Erskine of the circular letter to the Irish Catholic Bishops'. Mentions reports of seditious meeting in Ireland during the past week, and a speech in parliament by Lord Portarlington. 'The Holy Father [Pope] and this congregation do not doubt but that in case those facts should still subsist, the accusation can only be brought against those few Catholics who disobedient to the voices of their pastors let themselves be misled by the democratic maxims that unfortunately too much are spread by the enemies of religion and of sovereignty'.
