Folios 227-230. The petition of the trustees of the Harbour of Whitehaven, Cumberland, seeking the completion of the battery proposed in 1762 by the engineer John Wooler. Outlines Whitehaven's trade with Ireland, especially Dublin, America, the West Indies, and Guinea [Africa]; and the predations of Thurot's squadron, and American privateers, in 1777. Also refers to the removal of ordnance from Whitehaven to Carlisle in 1745 [Jacobite] rising.
