Copy of a letter dated at St James's, advising that letters of marque and reprisal are to be issued against French ships, in retaliation for orders from the French King [Louis XVI] to seize and destroy British ships. Sent to: the Honourable Mr Walpole; Sir John Hurt [consul general, at Lisbon, Portugal]; and consuls: Whitehead; Murray, Hardy, Beawes, Marsh, Lidderdale, Wilkie, Gregory, Whitham, Katenkamp, Logie, and Mr Munro.
