Folios 157-158. A letter from Edward Giddy, dated at Tredrea [Cornwall] near Marazion, Cornwall, concerning uncontrolled smuggling since the withdrawal of soldiers. Describes the trade in spirits, tea and other goods; and the armaments deployed by smugglers around Mounts Bay and Penzance [Cornwall]. Reflects that criminal prosecution might be useless since 'a Cornish jury would certainly acquit the smugglers', citing the example of Patrick Plunket.
