Folios 115-116. Folio 115. Note dated at Trinity House [London] from [William] James to Sir Stanier Porten that he has read the petition addressed to Lord Rochford 'and would with very great pleasure do anything in behalf of the petitioners within the rules and regulations of the Corporation; but they being already upon the Monthly Books under the highest description, are by that entitled to the greatest bounty of the Corporation except an house which his Lordship has already by his nomination disposed of to Anne Bull'. Folio 116. Petition of Samuel Batten of Fox's Lane, St Paul Shadwell to Lord Rochford to be given a Trinity alms-house or anything Rochford 'shall seem meet before it is too late being in great distress'.
