Account of Cowdry and his mate's conversation with Captain Lawrence who on their payment of four guineas gave the following receipt 'Received London 24 Aug[ust] 1775 of Willm [William] Cowdry and James Shanks four guineas in part of ten on account of their passage to New York [per] the Earl of Dunmore E Lawrence' and in addition an order to go on board the ship.
