Folios 23-24. Examinations of Robert Harrison of Leek, Staffordshire victualler and Thomas Brassington labourer also of Leek sworn before Thomas Mills, Justice of the Peace in connection with the murder of Mary Vickars. Letter dated at Liverpool from Tho [Thomas] Hutton, Deputy Town Clerk, to Mr Lockett relaying the information given to him by the landlord of the 'Rising Sun' about two men who came to his house some time last winter one of whom went on to Dublin. Hutton says that he will get Harrison to look at the prisoner [Mathew Cocklane] as the latter passes through Liverpool and if Harrison 'can recollect anything that will affect him' Hutton will send word and give any assistance in his power for the advancement of justice.
