Folios 21-22. Examinations taken on oath of Elizabeth Wilson of Derby widow, Mary Sadler of Derby widow, Benjamin Pinkerly of Derby labourer, Thomas Clows of Sturston, Ashborn [Ashbourne] Derbyshire and Ann Clows of the same place relating to the murder of Mary Vickars allegedly by Mathew Cocklane. Letter dated at Dublin from William Rockford to the Mayor of Derby [Christopher Heath] requesting that an affidavit be made out and sent to Lord Mansfield who will grant a warrant to have Cocklane brought over to England. In a nota bene Rockford writes that Cocklane 'spent a deal of money since he came over so that he must have made a great booty'. The paper is confirmed to be a true copy of the examinations and letter by Wm [William] M [Merrill] Lockett (Town Clerk and Coroner of Derby) and Gregory Winrow.
