Description

Folios 204-207. Folios 204 and 207. Letter dated at Horton [Yorkshire] from Sam [Samuel] Lister to Richard Wilson at 9 Cecile Street, London enclosing the Information of [Thomas] Clayton and the confessions of [Robert] Tommis and [Thomas] Spencer indicted for diminishing the gold coin; he also writes about the best way of bringing Isaac Hartley to trial for Dighton's murder, Normington and Tommis having been tried for the murder and acquitted in relation to which he fears 'it is too late to have an appeal against their acquittal'. Folios 205-206. The Information of Thomas Clayton of Sowerby, Halifax, West Riding of Yorkshire weaver mentioning Matthew Normington, Robert Tommis and Mr Dighton; the Examination and Voluntary Confession of Robert Tommis of Sowerby mentioning Thomas Spencer, Matthew Normington, Mr Dighton, Isaac Hartley, Luke Dewhirst and Jonathan Bolton; the Voluntary Confession of Thomas Spencer mentioning Isaac Hartley, Dighton, Robert Tommis, Matthew Normington and David Hartley. Endorsed 'The Information of Clayton and the Confessions of Tommis and Spencer. In Mr Lister's of 10 June 1774'. [Damaged].
