Folios 198-199. Letter dated at St James's Square [London] from Lord Rochford to the Attorney-General [Edward Thurlow] sending 'several papers and copies of examinations taken upon oath in 1771 by Mr Horton of Holroyd, and of others taken by Colonel Wickham this year. They have been transmitted to me by Mr Wilson of Leeds with his enclosed letter dated 30 past' [see folio 210 below]. [Thurlow] is instructed to take the necessary steps for prosecuting 'in the most effectual manner' Robert Tommis and Mathew Normington, 'as also of any other person or persons who shall appear to have been concerned therein', for the murder and robbery in 1769 of Mr [William] Dighton, Supervisor of Excise at Halifax.
