Description

Folios 65-68. Folio 65. Letter dated at the Public Office, Bethnal Green from D [David] Wilmot to Lord Suffolk reporting that at present everything is quiet among the Spitalfields weavers but f6ears 'the City Marshall makes himself too busy with the weavers' as will be seen from the enclosed Information. Wilmot has heard that the weavers intend to go in a body to the House of Commons on 26 April. Folio 66. The Voluntary Information of John Malfuson of Beacon [Bacon] Street in the parish of St Matthew, Bethnal Green victuller regarding the activities of the City Marshall. Folios 67-68. The Voluntary Information of Richard Charnock of Skinner Street in the parish of St Botolph without Bishopsgate in the city of London weaver giving a very detailed account of what occurred during and after he and fellow weavers Silas Price of Primrose Street, Shoreditch and William Bland of Oakley Street, Bethnal Green went to see Mr Francis Bowland, master weaver, of Wood Street in the parish of Christ Church, Middlesex in order to find out whether the bill to restrain the wearing of foreign made silks was likely to be passed. Lord North and one Samuel Gilbert weaver of Bethnal Green are mentioned as is Mr King's house at the sign of the 'Well and Bucket'
