Folio 2: Title page.

Folio 3: Explanatory note. During the period of the War, papers of a confidential nature in the office of the C-in-C Home Fleet were filed in Packs (numbered separately from the non-confidential records) in a Series 001 to 0042 inclusive. Copies of relevant telegrams were filed in these packs, but a complete set of all telegrams was also maintained. The secret packs were re-arranged by the Grand Fleet secretarial staff in February 1919, when papers considered unimportant were removed and destroyed, and the remainder re-indexed. They were received in this form by the Historical Section in April 1920, and bound as received, in a series of Volumes. The 1919 index will be found in the first volume (see ADM 137/1881) and extracts from this been inserted in each succeeding volume. This volume is the 36th of the series.

Folios 22-23: legal consideration around the sinking of the German vessel Otter.

Folios 25-31: Papers relative to the capture of the German trawler Albertine dated 7 August 1914 by Captain Albert Charles Scott HMS Blonde. Record and nominal list with ranks of prisoners of war embarked on HMS Blonde from 6-7 August 1914.

Folios 32-41: Copies of correspondence and affidavits as to ship papers on board relative to the capture of the German trawlers Memel of Emden (Heinrich Vogt, Master)on 16 August 1914 and Prinz Homburg of Emden (Conrad Haferkamp, Master) on 16 August 1914, by HMS Blonde. A list of prisoners of war from these captured vessels (folio 41).

Folios 42-50: Report and other papers concerning the capture of Aue of Bremerhaven, German trawler, on 6 August 1914 by Lieutenant Commander Guy Stopford, HMS Orion. Nominal list of the crew of Aue (folio 45), inventory of papers of the Aue (folio 46).

Folios 51-58: Report concerning the capture and sinking of the Fasolt on 6 August 1914, (German ship) dated 18 August 1914 by Captain John Douglas Edwards, HMS Falmouth.

Folio 59: Report of the boarding and sinking of the German steam trawler Romulus on 7 August 1914 by Captain Alexander Lounds, HMS Hibernia at sea.

Folio 60: With reference to a telegram of 6 August 1914 regarding the destruction of German trawlers. The sinking of trawlers was necessary to prevent them communicating any information to the enemy about the movements of the fleet.

Folio 61: Reporting the sinking of the German steam trawlers Mime and Fasolt on 7 August 1914, Captain John Douglas Edwards, HMS Falmouth at Scapa Flow. Boarding of Mime (folios 63-64).

Folios 65-67: Correspondence concerning the sinking of Mime and Fasolt on 6 September 1914 by HMS Falmouth.

Folios 68-72: sinking of the German trawler Fehrbellin by HMS Lowestoft, 10 August 1914.

Folios 93-304: Reports of operations in connection with the Blockade. Folios 93-101: Reports and correspondence concerning the Norwegian Steam Ship Vestfos of Christiania boarded on 12 September 1914 by HMS Drake.

Folios 102-106: Boarding of the SS Manchester Civilian on 30 September 1914. Mention made to the Vitruvia (folio 105).

Folios 107-122: Detention of Danish steamer, Oscar II, on 24 October 1914 by HMS Hibernia.

Folios 123-131: Capture of Swedish SS Volrath Tham by HMS New Zealand on 14 October 1914.

Folios 132-138: Report of treasure shipped at Archangel on 19 Ocotber 1914 by H.M. ships Drake and Mantua to the value of seven million, nine hundred and ninety five thousand seven hundred and twenty three pounds on behalf of the Russian government.
