A letter from the Lord Mayor of London [Brass Crosby], dated at the Old Bailey [London] enclosing a second letter from [Jonathan] Brittain [Britain] a prisoner who disputes allegations by [Joshua] Dudley [that arson caused a fire at the dockyard, Portsmouth, Hampshire, on 27 July 1770]. Folio 286. Brittain's letter to Crosby, dated at Reading gaol [Berkshire]. Mentions claims he is insane ['mad', mentally ill, as he has confessed to attempting to assassinate George III].
