Folios 279-282. The Lord Mayor of London Brass Crosby to Lord Rochford, enclosing letters from Jonathan Brittain at Reading Gaol [Berkshire] and William James at Bristol [Somerset] to be laid before the king. Enclosing letters with a highly detailed (and somewhat rambling) account from Jonathan Brittain, of his time since leaving Mordaunt's regiment on 13 August 1770, whereby he was involved with recruiting men for the French service in England and Scotland with Frances Rogers. Brittain also being involved in a 'hellish plot' to assassinate His Majesty.
