Folios 255-256. A letter from Lord Rochford to Sir Abraham [?Isaac] Elton, magistrate of Bristol [Gloucestershire]. Concerns allegations made by Joshua Dudley that arson caused the fire at the dockyards, Portsmouth, Hampshire, [on 27 July 1770]. Elton is to investigate and report on Dudley, including whether he was employed by Jacob Player, merchant, and whether he is known at the 'Sun' public house] in Stokes Croft, Bristol.
