Folios 210-213. Letter dated at the General Post Office [London] from Anth [Anthony] Todd [Secretary] to Lord Rochford putting forward his nephew Mr Maddison to take over the work of decyphering previously done by Francis Willes recently appointed as Rochford's Under-Secretary. Willes has indicated that he would allow £200 of the £400 annual salary he receives as decypherer to some persons to do the work for him and intimating that Maddison might be preferred. Todd gives details of his nephew's career from 1761.
