Folios 207-208. Letter dated at Inverary from the Duke of Argyll to [?Lord Rochford] that should the French Ambassador wish to visit any of the Scottish forts and garrisons he (Argyll) will inform him that although his general orders are not to admit any foreigners he has taken upon himself to dispense with these orders provided the Ambassador is alone without any of his attendants. Argyll says he will be sending appropriate orders to the forts and garrisons.
