Folios 155-156. Josias Cuningham to the King. Petition giving an account of events at Gosport circa 1762 when he was an ensign in the 56th Regiment which led to him being on an ensign's half pay when the regiment went to the Havana and afterwards to Ireland so that no legal redress could be had. He sets out the 12 heads of injuries he was requested to supply by Mr [Thomas] Francis and submits to King the whole of his sufferings and services particlarly his unlawful imprisonment for five months without trial on a false charge of damaging [Augusta] the Princess Dowager's gardens at Kew and subsequent forcible confinement in a madhouse in Ireland. He asks that he may be fully examined by Lord George Germain and Mr Conway and a report made to the King.
