Folios 141-143. Letter dated at Treasury Chambers from John Robinson to Sir Stanier Porten enclosing:- Folio 142. Letter dated at Custom House, London from Edwd [Edward] Stanley to John Robinson that Stephen Watson the person complained of in the French Ambassador's note is a midshipman on board the 'Wells' cutter and only has a commission from the Board of Customs to seize. The matter not coming within the purview of the Board, Stanley submits that it should be referred to the Admiralty for them to order the commander of the 'Wells' cutter to make the necessary enquiry. Copy.
