Folio 90. Letter dated at Beamont [Beaumont-cum-Moze, Essex] from the Reverend Mr [Tristram] Evans to Lord Rochford that a mob from Colchester is 'now rambling over this hundred' and on application to the commanding officer at Colchester to order some troops for the relief of the inhabitants, the officer excused himself saying his orders would not permit of it. Evans asks Rochford to 'let us have a few troops here, that we may sleep in peace' which he believes will not be until the troops are there.
