Draft circular [? from Lord Rochford] 'Sir, As information has been received of a numerous mob assembling at Colchester and Chelmsford and their neighbourhood and committing various outrages in seizing corn and other provisions and threatening to raise contributions of money I must desire you to meet me and the other gentlemen in the Commission of the Peace at the Red Lion at Ingatestone on Friday next at [blank] to consider of the most effectual means in our power to preserve the peace of the county of Essex and beg the favour of you to bring with you any other gentlemen in the Commission who from the present hurry may accidentally not have been written to'.
