Folios 58-59. Anonymous letter from 'a freeman and tradesman of Bristol, addressed to the King proposing a scheme for lowering the price of provisions in general by increasing the number of cattle. He believes that while 'it is true there is many well meaning people at this time who have formed themselves in societies in Bristol and in many other cities and towns in order to purchase provision [sic] and to sell it to the poor at a lower price than what is sold in the markets', such action will 'enhance the price for every poor person that can get two or three shilling will strive to buy some of this meat if they go in debt for other things because of its cheapness which will cause the greater consumption'.
