Folios 51-54. Letter, dated at Hertford Street [London] from Geo [George] Pitt 'I can't avoid troubling your Lordship with the enclosed, as you will see by perusing it, since, if my correspondent can be of any use here, you will not, I dare say, lose him for the trifle he proposes. To say the truth, the hardships he undergoes, and the distresses to which his ill paid £12 per annum reduces him are sufficient to make him desparate, and I believe him ready to undertake anything'. Endorsed 'Read by The King 23 March to remain in office'. Folios 52-53. Mermorial (in French) De Joubert-Barraut to George Pitt, asking for a loan of 20 guineas, as he will be obliged to go to Rotterdam, and that the promised grant of a pension and commission be expedited. Promising to enter into no engagement until he has Mr Pitt's answer, or for him to speak on his behalf to Lord Albermarle.
