Folios 454-455: Regarding orders to submarines D3, D5 and E10 to attack enemy cruisers engaging HMS Halcyon by Captain Arthur Kipling Waistell, dated 4 November 1914.

Folios 456-457: Report of proceedings of submarine D5 for 2 – 3 November 1914 by Lieutenant-Commander Godfrey Herbert. Submarine D5 sank on hitting a mine on 3 November 1914. Herbert was one of five survivors.

Folio 458: Loss of submarine D5. Remuneration to skipper of the Steam Drifter Faithfull for services rendered, letter by Commodore (S), dated 12 November 1914.

Folio 459: Loss of submarine D5. Remuneration to Skipper James Collin of the Steam Drifter Faithfull from Eyemouth for services rendered in the rescue of survivors, letter by Captain (D) and Senior Naval Officer Wilmot Nicholson, dated 7 November 1914. Other correspondence and papers regarding this follows on folios 460-471. Also a statement dated 9 February 1915 by Alfred Jenner Skiper of the Steam Drifter Homeland who also offered assistance in the rescue of survivors from D5 (folios 473-474). Other correspondence about the Homeland’s rescue efforts are in folios 475-477.

Folios 478-479: War order 0040 for submarines E11 and E12, dated 18 November 1914 by Commodore (S), HMS Maidstone.
