SITPRO Ltd (formerly known as the Simpler Trade Procedures Board) was established in 1970 under the Companies Act; it was reconstituted in April 2001 as a company limited by guarantee. SITPRO is the UK’s trade facilitation body which aims to simplify the international trading process by the simplification and harmonisation of trade procedures to encourage and help business trade more effectively. It is an executive non-departmental public body, previously the responsibility of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and since 2007 the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) from which it receives funding. The Public Records (Designation of Bodies) Order 2003 had made the Simpler Trade Procedures Board a public record body.
