Folios 321-322. Folio 321. Petition of Samuel Oliver the Mayor and other Justices of the Peace for Leicester to the King praying for a pardon for Ann Halford, a 50 year old widow with seven children, of Welham sentenced at Leicester Assizes to seven years transportation for stealing some handkerchiefs worth £1 5s the property of Matthew Pridmore. The petitioners say that Ann Halford is a 'lunatick and out of her senses as several of her family have frequently been'. Signed by Matthew Pridmore, Sam [Samuel] Oliver, Jno [John] Westley, Nichs [Nicholas] Throsby, Bucherd Brian, Samuell Driver, G Coulton, C Robinson and Sam [Samuel] Jordan. Folio 322. The trial judge Sir Thomas Denison's report to the King recommending a free pardon.
