Folio 157. Letter from Jam [James] Bayley at Manchester [Lancashire] to 'My Lord' [? Lord Egremont]. In response to Mr Jenkinson's letter about John Jones otherwise Smith, Bayley says he knows nothing of the man other than that from his appearance he may 'make a good soldier and be useful abroad'. He asks for a proper order as to how to dispose of him and in the meanwhile will have him kept in the House of Correction.
