Folios 130-131: Bartholomew Roberts, HMS Espiegle, Yarmouth. Reports going to sea with HMS Ann to search for privateers. On 29 July off Dogger Bank he boarded a fishing boat that informed him that a brig and schooner had been there several days ago and had set fire to a large merchantman and that the evening before they had seen the same privateers. His efforts to find these privateers had been unsuccessful. On his return he fell in with some Baltic ships who had parted company with HMS Isis, which he took under his charge safe in with the land. Adds that he has detained the Catharina Maria from Copenhagen bound to Dunkirk laden with corn and timber. He has received the orders to convoy the Princess Castelcicala to Cuxhaven, but on enquiry at the Packet Office finds that her Highness has not arrived.
