Folios 248-285. Letter from L Macleane [formerly one of the Under Secretaries in the Southern Department under the Earl of Shelburne] to [?the Earl of Sandwich] beginning 'It being very probable that the Marquis D'Aubarede who has resided here above four years under the various names of Guiller, Caffaro and Bernard, will, on the present appearance of a rupture with Spain, renew his applications to be employed by the Administration in raising a revolt in Mexico I think it my duty to give your Lordship a particular detail of what passed between this man and me'. There follow some 36 pages of a very detailed narrative.
