Folios 226-227. Advocate-General's confidential report to the Earl of Rochford on the reference made to him about the legality of serving an arrest or civil process on board a vessel at anchor near the Isle of Man. The background to the reference is a complaint made by the Governor [John Wood] against Lieutenant [John] Whiston of HMS Ranger. Endorsed 'The Advocate Genl's [General's] report to the reference made to him and the Attorney Genl [General] delivered by Doctor [James] Marriot confidentially 12 Dec [December] 1770'.
