Folios 429-430: Sinking of the Bremerhaven (sunk on 4 October 1918). On 2 October 1918 four armed trawlers of the 2ND Ems Outpost Half-Flotilla proceeded to their positions. A group of submarine escort vessels ordered Bremerhaven to take a position further north as a Marker Boat. At night two destroyers opened fire killing a number of the crew. Four survivors were rescued from the water by HMS Sylph.
Folio 429: Previous History of the Bremerhaven. A standardized trawler built by the Schiff'bau Gesellschaft Unterweser at Lehe and commissioned at Kiel in October 1916.
Folio 430: Details of the Bremerhaven. 250 gross tonnage, 450 IHP and 10 knots. Armament of one 8.8cm. gun, one machine gun and two depth charges. Two deck-mounted torpedo tubes were fitted but no torpedoes carried.
Folios 430-431: Auxiliary Patrols. The organisation of the Ems Outpost Flotilla and the trawlers in each group.
Folio 431: Morale in the Auxiliary Patrol Service. Widespread longing for an immediate peace.
Folio 431: Losses. Trawlers and M-boats lost. A British submarine torpedoed destroyer S.33 which then sank the submarine by gunfire. Note that this is presumed to be L.10 which is overdue.
Folios 431-432: Minesweeping Procedure. The Ems Outpost Flotilla trawlers seldom use their mine sweeps.
Folio 432: Bow Protection Gear (Minenabweiser). Boom structure fitted to bows from which there are two wire sweeps with cutters.
Folio 432: War Vessels at Emden. Visited by torpedo craft for re-fuelling or by bad weather. Allied prisoners housed in Holland-America Line's emigrant depot.
Folio 432: Seaplane Carriers. Light cruiser Stuttgart being converted to seaplane carrier in Wilhelmshaven Dockyard. The auxiliary seaplane carrier Santa Elena carries three seaplanes.
Folio 432: New German Imperial Yacht. Ersatz Hohenzollern was practically complete at Stettin.
Folio 432: Anti-Submarine School at Kiel. The paddle steamer Kehrewieder is attached.
Folio 432: Remarks on W/T Procedure. Call signs changed about every 15 days. When in port, confidential books are landed and re-issued just before sailing again.
