Folio 51: Squadron Formations. Ostfriesland, flagship of Vice-Admiral Schmidt, First Squadron is of four Helgoland class and four Nassau class battleships.
Folio 51: Movements. Very little sea time recently with routine of five days at anchor in Schillig Roads with steam for one hour's notice, followed by five days moored to buoys further up the Jade and then five days in harbour.
Folios 51-52: Jutland Action. Ostfriesland was not hit during action but early in the morning of 1 June the ship struck a mine or possibly torpedoed, continuing under her own steam. Repairs took several weeks.
Folios 52-53: General details of Ostfriesland including 5.6-inch Battery, Casemates, Crew of 5.9-inch guns, Ammunition Supply, Sighting Gear, Control of Fire, 12-inch Turret, Armament, Instructional Apparatus, Rangefinders, Alterations after Jutland, Searchlights, Battle Signal Stations, Signalling, Night Speed Indication Signals, Fuel, Masts, Complement and Officers.
Folio 53: Firing practice carried out four or five times annually always in the Baltic near Sonderburg. Since Jutland the range increased to 20,000 metres. Painting of Funnels. When at sea, First Squadron's funnels painted red for purpose of recognition by submarine and a white ring painted on turret roofs for recognition by aircraft.
Folio 53: New Construction. Work on battle cruiser Ersatz Vineta proceeding very slowly.
Folio 53: General Conditions. Discontent in High Sea Fleet increasing due to bad quality and small quantity of food. Malicious damage to turret and ropes cut. The conditions in Hamburg appear to be very bad.
