Folios 130-131. Letter from Doctor Jean Uri at Oxford to 'Monsieur'. 'I was able to translate the Turkish leers that you sent me on behalf of the Duke of Richmond without much difficulty. The first, which is the longer, is the translation from the English. The second, except for some titles and benedictions, does not say much more than that 'Before the writing of this letter, one of our warships met at sea one of His Majesty's merchant ships, and asked them, according to the old custom, for its passport. The merchant ship did not have one and since they only had Letters Parent they were brought back with us. But, in consideration of His Majesty, we let them go by giving them into Consul Robert Kirke's charge'.
