Petition from John Purnell, iron master of Frampton upon Severn, Gloucestershire, to the King for Letters Patent for his invention of 'a new machine for making ship bolts, large round rods of iron and iron and steel wire of various sizes'. Referral to the Attorney or Solicitor-General signed by the Duke of Richmond. Folio 124. John Purnell's affidavit in support of his petition. Folios 125-126. Solicitor-General's report to the King recommending, with the usual proviso for enrolment, that Purnell's petition be granted. Signed by William de Grey.
