Folios 65-70. Folios 65-67. Memorandum from Jam [James] Tonque at Carpenter's Buildings, London Wall regarding the activities of Edward Cator in inveigling John Hill, 'an expert able artificer in the iron and steel manufacture of this kingdom' particularly of coach springs, to go with him to Holland where they are engaged in establishing forges and workshops in 'Roan or Rojen within a mile or two of Amsterdam'. Cator has returned to England to solicit more workmen, been apprehended and committed to Newgate by Sir John Fielding. Tonque asks that application be made to Sir Joseph Yorke at The Hague 'to use the ?conducive steps to compel John Hill' to leave Holland and return home within six months. A John Harding is mentioned as one of Cator's recruits. Folio 68. Note from William Burke to Mr Fraser recommending that the Cator affair go for the immediate and particular attention of the Duke of Grafton. Folio 69. Letter from Samuel Tonque to Wm [William] Frazer [Fraser, Under Secretary Northern Department] that in his earlier letter he was mistaken as to John Hill's whereabouts; Hill is at 'Rhoon in the Overmaasel near Rotterdam'. He hoped Sir Joseph's application will bring back not only John Hill but also any other workmen. Folio 70. Memorandum giving further information as to the present whereabouts of John Hill.
