Description

Captured ship: Angel Michael of Staden, Sweden (master Michael Voglian, otherwise Vogell or Vogelyan).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (, 100 tons, men), bound from Altona northabout to San Sebastian, laden with deals, lead, brimstone, tobacco pipes; taken on 3 June 1693 about 30 leagues SW of the 'Blaskeys' [Blasket Islands] by HMS Sapphire (Hovenden Walker commanding), and brought into Kinsale.

  • SP 3: inventory of the ship's lading;
  • SP 4: letter to the factor at San Sebastian:
  • SP 5: crew agreement;
  • SP 6: the master's orders;
  • SP 7: bill of health from the Swedish Duchy of Bremen;
  • SP 8-9: Swedish ship's pass from the Swedish Duchy of Bremen, having a pendent seal enclosed in a decorative tin;
  • SP 9: Swedish ship's pass from Staden.

[Decision: condemned, 16 November 1693; appealed]
