Captured ship: Providentia of Lubeck (master Jan Boysen).
History: a Lubeck ship (186 lasts, 14 men and 2 boys), bound from Riga to Brest, laden with masts, spars, clapboards and staves; taken on 25 December / 5 January 1747/8 between Dover and Calais by the privateer Prince of Orange (John Stephenson commanding), and brought into Dover.
