Folios 200-201: S.P. 1918/42, 29 May 1918. On 26 May, J5 exchanged gun fire with an enemy submarine. When the gun jammed, J5 dived but a large amount of water entered, flooding the battery and generating chlorine gas. When surfaced, enemy submarine made off.
