The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) was founded in October 1948 (as the International Union for the Protection of Nature - IUPN), following an international conference at Fontainebleau, France. It is an international organisation dedicated to natural resource conservation. Its headquarters are in Gland, Switzerland.
