The Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) was set up in 1990 as a non-statutory committee which provides expert advice to the Government on questions relating to microbiological issues and food. It is is attached to the Food Standards Agency. The Committee provides advice in response to requests from the Food Standards Agency and also on matters that Committee members themselves identify as important. It consists of independent experts drawn from a wide range of interests.
