The first reading and objections to the bill for indemnifying some of the Commissioners of Excise who had omitted to take the Test on the new powers added to their commission. Marriot's petition. 7 April. Sir Thomas Littleton's report and following debate about the duty on coal. Mr [Edward] Harlay's motion for the bailing of John Knight and Bartholomew Burton. Poor attendance at the committee appointed to consider the Militia Bill. 8 April. 'Young Mr Foley's' proposal to the House sitting as a Committee of Ways and Means for a tax on grants and the Committee's consideration thereof.
