Description

Folios 289-290. An unsigned newsletter, dated at Whitehall [Middlesex], reporting: Charles Montague, Earl of Tankerville, Sir Stephen Fox, Mr [John] Smith, Mr [Henry] Boyle as Treasury commissioners, with Smith also appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer; Lord Berkley, the Duke of Bolton and Lord Galway made justices of Ireland; Duke of Bolton appointed Lord Lieutenant of Dorset and of Southampton [Hampshire] and warden of the New Forest; Earl of Stamford and Lord Lexington made commissioners of trade, in the room of the Earl of Bridgewater and the Earl of Tankerville; Mr [Francis] Godolphin, son of Lord Godolphin, made a teller of the Exchequer; Humphrey Hethington made justice of the King's Bench in Ireland, in the room of Mr Justice Lyndon; Thomas Pendergast made a baronet; Serjeant Darnell knighted; Sir Rowland Gywnn to be Customs commissioner; [Richard] Hill's journey to [Turin and] the Duke of Savoy to congratulate him on the birth of his son [Prince Victor Amadeus of Piedmont]; prorogation of parliament; and King [William III's] departed from Kensington [Palace, Middlesex], via Margate [Kent], [for the Netherlands].
