Folios 225-226. A letter from Ja [James] Vernon to Mr [Richard] Hill, dated at Whitehall [Middlesex] thanking Hill for 'my share of your burgundy [wine]' the invoice for which is sent to Mr Bridges. Comments on: the King's opposition to Hill's intercession concerning Lord Montgomery's licence; the attitude of the commissioners of trade towards 'your nations' [?negotiating interlocutors] proposals on trade; Hill's anger with 'the Scotch expedition' [?Darien scheme], and an absence of Spanish opposition; and Lord Portland's meetings with the King at Kensington [Middlesex], always privately, and his inclination to quit his employment [as ambassador to France].
