A letter from Ja [James] Vernon to Mr [Richard] Hill, dated at Whitehall [Middlesex] commenting on: the possibility of Hill succeeding Sir Joseph Williamson when he departs as envoy to The Hague [Netherlands]; corn supply in Flanders, an agent de Paz, and a Quaker from Cornwall exporting corn last summer on authority of the Elector of Bavaria; a lace bill [?in parliament]; a proclamation concerning men [under arms] being reduced from 80,000, maintaining regiments 'here' except General Earle's regiment; new prosecutions against [Roman] Catholics as Jacobites.
