Folios 140-141. A letter from Ja [James] Vernon to Lord Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall. Comments on negotiations for a treaty with Sweden 'upon Monsieur Lilierode's model', referring to the Pensioner's [the Grand Pensionary, Anthonie Heinsius] advice, a potential rupture between Sweden and Russia, a quota of 6,000 men the King [William] may have to supply, Monsieur Leyonerona. Also reports: Dutch wool manufacture in Galicia [Spain]; the King's speech to parliament, and Mr Harly's [Robert Harley's] militia bill; confirmation in the Ailesbury [Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire] election in favour of Mr [James] Herbert after a petition from Mr [Robert] Dormer, mentioning the sitting member, Sir Thomas Lee.
