Description

Folios 105-106. An unsigned newsletter to Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson, dated at Whitehall, reporting: a decision, in the General Court of the old East India Company to unite with the new company; the planned departure from Brussels [Spanish Netherlands] Mr [?Richard] Hill, and the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Lorraine. House of Commons bill: for disbanding the army, a petition opposing the measure, Mr Conyers, and the raising of £800,000 for it; for regulating the press; rights of demobilised soldiers to follow trades; receipts and issues for the year 1698; and an adjournment debate on distilling from corn. Bills in Ireland's parliament concerning: the 'more easy recovery of the King's debt'; duty on wool, and tobacco; and fines relating to quartering the army.
