Folios 150-151. Ja [James] Vernon reporting to Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson. His Majesty has arrived and received the welcome of his people. The Lords Justices and the Duke of Shrewsbury went to Greenwich to wait on him. Shrewsbury, being ill, returned to Kensington. A general search was made for conspirators. The [Huguenot] Frenchman, who reported that the Duke of Berwick was at his shop, is now satisfied it was the Earl of Monmouth [Charles Mordaunt], who bought the hat and stockings from his daughter Darby, the under officer in Lord Fitzharding's [?FitzHardinge] office, has been sent to prison for practising on Exchequer Bills as Marriott [Reginald Marriott] did.
