Folios 95-96. RY [Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Jo [Joseph] Williamson [Nine Years' War]. The people here begin to be very uneasy, because the peace is not proclaimed, and enemies are very ready to make use of every opportunity to put scruples into their heads; but he hopes the next post will entirely remove them. The Lords of the Treasury are endeavouring to raise the money to pay off the foreign troops and great ships. The Bank think it hard that a loan should be expected from them. There has been a terrible mortality in the West India squadron. The Lords Justices and Council met again this afternoon upon the Irish bills (see also next folio). The Act for the security of his Majesty's person and government is still postponed; among other things, the papists are obliged to take the oath of supremacy as well as allegiance; all persons whatever are obliged to take it, or else incur a praemunire.
