Folios 77-78. Ja [James] Vernon reporting to Ambassador [Joseph] Williamson. They received an Irish mail and Sir Francis Brewster's son arrived with a transmission of sixteen bills, that were brought to the council and referred to Mr Attorney and Mr Solicitor. The bill for confirming the Articles of Limerick [of 1691] came very close to be rejected. The Irish Parliament was adjourned, and the English Parliament was prorogued, Lord Chief Justice [John] Holt officiating as speaker of the House of Lords. The Treasury are going to have a loan upon the credit of the Exchequer in general. The Earl of Bellomont [Richard Coote] embarked at Portsmouth, and Lord Manchester [Charles Montagu] has gone to Harwich.
