Folio 74. RY [Robert Yard] reporting to Sir Jo [Joseph] Williamson [Nine Years' War]. The messenger that brought over the treaty was sent back as soon as it could be written over fair, and have the great seal put to it, and a duplicate was sent by another messenger to Harwich. The merchants inquired when the ceasing of hostilities at sea was to begin. It might be expected here that this should be settled on the other side of the water, so that it may be declared by both parties at the same time, to prevent all disputes. The Lord Chancelor [Baron John Somers] was out of order again, so he was not at the meeting of the Lord Justices, and they do not know when the Duke of Shrewsbury will be in town again.
